About the Recipe
This recipe explores the role of fashion in alternative imaginary worlds.
We will create and perform our own characters and story from an imaginary world which explores ‘what if’s?’ in the future of fashion!
Ingredients
A variety of different clothing items and objects from around your home.
A4 Paper
Drawing tools - pens, pencils, crayons etc.

PART ONE: STORY EXPLORATION
Approx 15 minutes
Explore the different What If? Stories in the provided examples.
1. Choose one of four provided themes in the Imaginary World Theme Cards:
Collective Ownership
Individual Ownership
Everything Must Be Brand New
Nothing Can Be Brand New
2. Read the example story from your chosen Imaginary World Theme Card.
3. Discuss the example story using the questions and prompts provided on the Imaginary World Theme Card.
PART TWO: STORY CREATION
Approx 1 hour+
Create and perform your own What If? Story in an Imaginary World! Use the stories provided in the Imaginary World Theme cards as examples, to help guide you.
You will need at least one character and one imaginary world theme.
1. Choose one of the four provided themes in the Imaginary World Theme Cards:
1 -Collective Ownership
2 -Individual Ownership
3 - Everything Must Be Brand New
4 - Nothing Can Be Brand New
2. You can either choose or create one or multiple characters:
Choose a character from one of the provided Character Cards.
OR
Create your own character by using the How to Draw an Exquisite Corpse Card.
You can have as many characters as you like in your world! Create or choose one or many characters using the above methods.
Using your chosen Imaginary World Theme + Character/s, you will now create and perform your own story!
3. Use the Story Building Activity Sheet to develop the story within your imaginary world.
4. Each player needs to act as a character.
Each character needs an outfit! Gather clothing and random objects from around your home and dress up as this character.
You can be as literal or creative as you like. Have fun dressing up in what your character might wear!
5. Once you have dressed up, your task is to perform your story! Each character will play a different role in this story.
Practice performing your story.
6. Showcase and perform your final story to your friends and family if you like! They would love to learn about your imaginary world.
PART THREE: REFLECTION
Approx. 10 Mins
Use the What if? Imaginary Worlds Reflection Card to reflect on creating your imaginary world!
