LET’S DRESS UP!

There are three activities within this recipe. The activities can be played in order (1, 2, 3) or they can be played separately (on their own).

ACTIVITY 1 – EXPERIMENTATION

Dressing-Up in Each Other’s Clothing

1. Find a friend or family member who would like to play this recipe with you. Make sure you are both happy to dress-up in each other’s clothing.

You can have similar clothing sizes but you don’t have to be the same size. In fact, it can be fun to dress-up in clothing of different sizes. But if you can’t fit into each other’s clothes, try dressing-up using accessories such as scarves, bags, jewellery, hats etc.

You need at least 2 people to play this recipe, but you can play with more.

2. You both need a variety of your own clothing, shoes and accessories to play with,

from both of your wardrobes.

*If you don’t have access to both players’ wardrobes, you can use clothing from one player’s wardrobe.*

3. Follow the ‘Head-To-Toe’ Task Cards, using each other’s, or your own, clothing. You can play all the cards or some of them. The cards can be played in any order.

After each task, show each other your outfit and discuss how you feel

Optional: Play music while dressing up!

Optional: Use a mirror to see your outfits as you dress-up!

Optional: Document your dress-up creations by taking photos of each other. Remember to ask all players if they are ok with having their photo taken.

4. Create your own tasks and dress-up in each other’s clothing freely. Be experimental!

ACTIVITY 2 – CHARACTER CREATION

Dressing-Up as a Character

1. Choose a character from the provided ‘Character Cards’ OR create your own character using the ‘How to Draw an Exquisite Corpse Character’ Activity Sheet.

2. Create an outfit you think this character would wear.

Use each other’s (or your own) clothing but also be creative. You could use items from around your home.

Here are some examples:

Perhaps a lampshade could make a nice hat?

Perhaps a towel could make a fun skirt?

Perhaps you could use a cushion as a shoulder pad?

If you need more inspiration, use the ‘Wear Where? Task Cards’ for ideas on how to experiment with your clothing.

Your only limitation is your imagination!

3. Dress-up in the outfit you created for your character.

Optional: Document your dress-up creations by taking photos of each other. Remember to ask each other if you’re ok with having your photo taken.

ACTIVITY 3 – SHARING & WEARING

Sharing & Wearing Each Other’s Clothing

1. Find a friend or family member who would like to play this recipe with you. Make sure you’re both happy to share your clothing with each other.

You can both have similar clothing sizes but they don’t have to be the same sizes. In fact, it can be fun to dress-up in clothing of different sizes!

2. You both need a variety of your own clothing, shoes and accessories to play with, from both of your wardrobes.

*If you don’t have access to both players’ wardrobes, you can use clothing from one player’s wardrobe.*

3. Each of you need to create an entire outfit or choose a clothing item, shoes or accessory, either:

From your wardrobe that you want the other player/s to wear.

OR

From the other player/s wardrobe that you want to wear.

Challenge each other to wear and share an outfit, clothing, shoes or accessories that you usually wouldn’t wear!

Make sure you are both happy with the chosen outfit, clothing item, shoes and/or accessory. You can try them on if you like.

4. Your task is to share your outfit, clothing item, shoes or accessory with the other player and borrow and wear an outfit, clothing item, shoes or accessory from the other player.

You can choose to share and wear each other’s clothing for a specific occasion, such as a party, on an outdoor adventure, on holiday, or in general.

Choose the period of time for sharing and wearing. It could be for:

A Day

A Week

A Fortnight

A Month

5. Share and swap the outfit, clothing, shoes or accessories with each other.

*If you are wearing your own clothing in this recipe, have the other player choose the outfit you will wear for the chosen time period.*

6. Fill in the ‘Wardrobe Diary’ while you are sharing and wearing each other’s clothing.

*There is a second version of the Wardrobe Diary if you’re wearing your own clothing, but your own clothing has been chosen by the other player.*

Optional: You can document your dress-up creations by photographing them!

7. Once you have finished sharing return the clothing to each other. Don’t forget to make sure they’re clean and washed

Complete your ‘Wardrobe Diary’ by asking the other player how they felt when wearing your clothing.

Thank the other person for sharing and wearing their clothes!
